Bluetongue
Bluetongue is a viral disease that affects ruminants, especially sheep. It can also affect cattle, goats, camels and wild ruminants. It has been named after one of the symptoms that can occur in the animal, which is a bluish coloration of the tongue. Click here to find out more

Combating avian flu
In 2003, the highly pathogenic H5N1 form of avian influenza was first detected in South East Asia . Since then the virus has been spreading first throughout Asia and in early 2006 it arrived in Europe, Africa and the Middle East . IFAH has produced a set of regularly updated FAQs designed to answer the common questions that surround avian influenza. It is important not to confuse avian influenza (“bird flu”) with the seasonal influenza that infects humans every year. Click here to find out more.
FAO and IFAH join forces to improve the quality of trypanosomiasis medicines in Africa Brussels, 9 September 2008.
