Councillor for America (North)
Dr. Troy Bourque graduated from the Atlantic Veterinary Collage of the University of Prince Edward Island, Canada, in 2000. He moved to Alberta after graduation and has been in private clinical practice. Troy has extensive experience in food animal, equine and companion animal practice.
Dr. Bourque has served the provincial veterinary medicine association the Alberta Veterinary Medicine Association (ABVMA). He has been involved in various committee of that organization since 2003 and was president in 2010. He has also been involved with the Canadian national veterinary association the Canadian Veterinary Medical Association (CVMA). He has been member of CVMA council since 2011 and was president of the CVMA in 2016-17.
Dr. Bourque’s interested include clinical veterinary practice, food animal health and welfare, antimicrobial stewardship, and food safety.
Dr. Bourque is married to a registered nurse, Alix, and they have one child named Sam. Troy enjoys fishing, camping, photography and astronomy.
