Dr. Said Gul Safi, DVM, MVSc, Diplomat of International Veterinary Medicine started his veterinary carrier since 1979 with Faculty of Veterinary Medicines, Kabul University and 1982 went to India for Post graduate studies which was successfully completed on 1984.
He worked as Deputy Director of Canadian NGO namely Human Concern international Canada and Director of health in Afghan refugee’s camps in Peshawar Pakistan. Later on 1988 joined United Nation Development Program (UNDP) and Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) as National Manager for animal health services until 2004. During this period the main activities started with coordination of cross boarder animal health services in Afghanistan and developed gradually private practice system at nationwide which covers all the districts including cluster villages in the country. During 2004 registered officially Afghanistan Veterinary Association (AVA) with government of Afghanistan and worked as coordinator of private sector with government. Until 2017 huge numbers of projects were implemented which focused on establishment of districts base veterinary clinics and support to them such as building and repairment of these clinics premises, cold chain system, logistics and transportation facilities and revolving fund for their business development as sustainable private practitioner.
Continues education of the field staff was one of the most immediate priorities and several hundred of various types of refresher and advance courses was carried out and coordinated by him.
During this period he also worked with many international organization such as American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) , commonwealth Veterinary Association (CVA), Federation of Asian Veterinary Association (FAVA) and World Veterinary Association (WVA).
