WVA Information: World Veterinary Day in India

The Punjab State Veterinary Council in collaboration with the Department of Animal Husbandry will celebrate the World Veterinary Day at Amritsar on 26th April, 2008. S. Gulzar Singh Ranike, Hon'ble Cabinet Minister, Punjab has kindly agreed to be the Chief Guest and Worthy S.C. Aggrawal, IAS, Financial Commissioner will preside over the function. It is expected 500 veterinarians will grace the occasion.
The technical session high-lighting the incidence and control of Zoonotic Diseases, Animal Birth Control Programme for dogs, steps to control Bird Flu will be discussed. In addition the blood samples of the Veterinarians will be tested for Brucellosis. Free Anti Rabies Vaccination Camp will be held at Hathi Gate Veterinary Hospital on the same day. Senior Retired Veterinarians from GADVASU/Animal Husbandry Department will also be honoured.
The role of the veterinarians in the improvement of the economic condition of the farmers will be the topic of World Veterinary Day. Their involment in creating the awareness campaign among the students community will be main subject of the messages to be given on this day. Their commitment in the self employment among the masses in the field of Animal Husbandry will be highlighted.
Hon'ble Minister will launch the awareness campaign on 25th April, 2008 at Village Bhuchar Kalan, Distt. Tarn Taran where Animal Welfare Camp will be held by the Veterinary Council and Department of Animal Husbandry.
