Posted by: JimEdwards on May 06, 2008 - 05:34 PM
WVDay
50th celebrations & Vet. Day of Tunisian Vet. Association

I would like to submit this brief activity report on behalf of the General Federation of Arab Veterinarians (GFAV) : The executive Secretariat (made of 8 members) held its 2nd meeting of the 21st session in Tunisia with the presence of 7 members out of 8 officers.
This has been on the kind invitation of the Tunisian Vet Assoc. (holding the office of deputy secretary) who is celebrating their 50th anniversary, 26--27th April 2008. The celebration also included the World Vet Day. The GFAV delegate included myself, as Secretary General, Dr Yasir Alian, the Assistant Secretary for administrative & financial affairs.

The Tunisian celebrations was inaugurated by the Minister of Agriculture & Water, other Dignitaries beside the Tunisian vets lead by the old Presidents of the association. I gave an address on behave of the GFAV and WVA (as Councillor for Africa) congratulating our Tunisian colleagues on this historical occasion & explained the idea & the encouragement of the WVA for the celebration of the Vet Day,& the prize set for it jointly by WVA & OIE. The address was well received by the gatherings which was well attended, & continued, afterwards by opening of the exhibition & the scientific conference.

The GFAV Secretariat meeting was held, 26 April 2008 in Hammamat town (7 to 10 pm).The meeting discussed all items on its agenda, especially the mutual cooperation with WVA after its associate membership in WVA was accepted.

The GFAV will hold the General Secretariat 3rd meeting, & the General Council, together, in Algiers in the middle of Dec 2008.

We hope that this piece of information will find its way in the WVA Bulletin.

Prof Hasim M ELhadi
Secretary General GFAV
