The University of Naples is made up of thirteen schools, eighty two departments, an academic staff of more than 3,000 individuals and an administrative staff of more than 4,500. Current student enrollment is about 100,000. The Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences is made up of 3 sections: Surgical Clinic, Medical Clinic, Obstetrics and Gynecology. In the context of special expertise, but in close collaboration, each section develops the specific purpose which, in outline, are the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of infectious diseases in domestic animals, the development of new approaches to diagnostic imaging, testing of new pharmaceutical products or groups of them, the development and testing of bioprosthetic materials and the study and application of new surgical techniques. The three sections, as the seats subsidiaries participate in a 4 PhD courses: Veterinary Anaesthesiology, Clinical and pathology of the organs of the Movement of Domestic Animals, Diagnostic Imaging, Veterinary Obstetrics and Gynecology. Section of Clinical Surgery plays a specialization course in orthopedics of pets. The Section of Clinical Medicine has set a course for PhD in Cardiology of pets. Some teachers of the Department collaborate in the drafting of major national magazines and participate in steering committees of national scientific associations. Several teachers and researchers collaborate with other departments and colleges at home and abroad. Finally, we mention the important activities carried out at hospital clinics, laboratories and operating rooms which are headed by the Department. Subject area V33B - V34A-V34B.
