The origins of the School of Veterinary Medicine may be placed in 1700, which was established a century reader. In 1860 the school was incorporated in the School of Medicine under the name "School of Veterinary Medicine and Surgery." By Royal Decree of 27 June 1864 the school was separated from that of Medicine. The School of Veterinary Medicine was further reformed in 1896 and, finally, by Royal Decree of 29 October 1925 the School was transformed into the Faculty. The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine is currently located just outside the old city wall and consists of two main groups of buildings. For the practical activity of students are also available-owned farms or in use at the University Veterinary Hospital and University Learning. There is an agreement to carry out practical work in the slaughterhouse citizen. The Faculty awards the title of Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (Master Degree, Class 47 / S, 5 years) are also present, the degree course in hygiene and quality of animal products (Class 40, 3 years), two graduate school - degree (3 years) and numerous PhD programs (3 years). The faculty also participates in the Interfaculty Degree Course in Biotechnology and collaborates with the Faculty of Agriculture for the implementation of the Degree Course in STPA (Class 40 and 79 / S). The faculty consists of 25 professors (I band), 16 associate professors (second range).
