Recognition status :
EAEVE European Association of Establishments for Veterinary Education
RCVS Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons
The Faculty has recently completed and equipped its facilities at the new location in Grugliasco, and in 2002 the Organization which checks the quality of veterinary teaching in Europe, the European Association for the Establishment of Veterinary Education (EAEVE), recognized it as consistent with the European Community Directions. Our school, the oldest in Italy (founded in 1769), and the fourth oldest in Europe, after Lyon, Maison Alfort and Wien, started the new millennium with this prestigious recognition and in a new location. The structures in Grugliasco are especially fit for modern teaching, thanks to multimedia classrooms, didactic laboratories, dissection room, veterinary hospital, animal farm and didactic slaughter-house; which allow us to teach in accordance with Community dictates, in the spirit of the didactic regulations' reform. We are expecting new challenges: the EAEVE has already planned another audit with regard to the requirements necessary for European recognition: we are all involved in order to keep the quality of teaching at the level recognized by the European Commission and to continue the path towards excellence. Moreover, the Continuing Education in Medicine (ECM) credits system, required for continuing education, will deeply involve the whole Faculty, to ensure that post-graduate training is in conformity with the demands of the veterinary profession.
