Zhejiang Agricultural University College of Animal Science & Veterinary Medicine

College of Animal Sciences (CAS) consists of Department of Animal Science and Technology, Department of Sericulture, Aquaculture and Apiculture, Department of Veterinary Medicine, Institute of Feed Sciences, Institute of Preventive Veterinary Medicine, and Institute of Dairy Science.

There are 108 faculty members and staffs, including one academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, 27 professors, 44 associate professors, 28 lecturers and research scientists.  The total enrollment is 623 at present: 303 undergraduates, 201 MS candidates, 111 PhD candidates, and 8 foreign students studying for MS or PhD.
We offer both MS and doctoral programs on Animal Nutrition and Feed Science, Sericulture and Aquaculture, Animal Genetics and Breeding, and Preventive Veterinary Medicine. The MS programs are also available for disciplines of Basic Veterinary Science, Clinical Veterinary Medicine, and Food Science. The undergraduate programs include Animal Science and Technology, Veterinary Medicine, Bioresources as well as Sericulture, Aquaculture and Apiculture. The program of Sericulture and Apiculture has been recognized as the National key discipline. Two Key Disciplines at the Provincial and Ministry levels include Animal Nutrition and Feed Science as well as Preventive Veterinary Medicine. The Molecular Animal Nutrition Lab has been recognized as the key laboratory by the State Ministry of Education, and the Preventive Veterinary Medicine Lab as the key laboratory by ZhejiangProvince.
We have established long-term cooperation with 20 universities and institutes from 13 countries, and also have close relationship with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), and International Atomic Energy Association (IAEA) of the United Nations.
The college has positioned itself as a major leader in the advancement of new discoveries in the areas of animal production and health, sustainable animal agriculture, safe foods of animal origin, and beyond. The college will continue to dedicate itself to superior instruction, excellent student performance, creative research and academic achievements, outstanding public services and economic development activities. As a result of this dedication, the college received two 2nd class Awards in the National Science and Technology Advancement in 2000 and 2002 respectively, and one 2nd class Award in the National Educational Achievement in 2002.
