College of Veterinary Medicine Chungbuk National University
There are 2-year
preveterinary and 4-year veterinary curriculums in the College of Veterinary
Medicine, Chungbuk National University. As one of best veterinary colleges in
Korea, we aim to foster and educate professional veterinarians who meet global
standard and are needed in our societies and communities based on our
excellency in educational and research programs.
Veterinary Medicine is the medical, diagnostic, and therapeutic studies of companion, domestic, exotic, wildlife, and production animals to improve animal and human welfare. This discipline also deals with evaluation for efficacy and safety of medicine and medical supplies, safety management in the fields of food and environment, basic medicine and biotechnology using animal experiments, and preventive measures against epidemics causing mischief to national economy such as avian influenza (AI), foot-and-mouth disease, and mad cow disease (CJD). Veterinarians do work in clinical medicine in field, and assist in ensuring the safety of food supplies. Veterinary scientists occupy important positions in biological, chemical, agricultural and pharmaceutical research, too.
To advance animal and human health through education, research, and public service, Veterinary education at Chungbuk National University was organized as the Department of Veterinary Medicine, College of Agriculture in March, 1989. Now, we have Veterinary Medical Center where produces well-trained veterinarians and serve advanced diagnosis and treatment using high tech equipments. Laboratory Animal Research Center and Research Institute of Veterinary Medicine have been opened for supply of laboratory animals and biomedical research. We pursue global OECD standard of education for professional veterinarians.
Our Veterinary College has served as internationally renowned professors and has been recently rated as the Best during 3 consecutive years. In addition, we were ranked as "Superior" in BK21 program for 7 years, and we currently operate BK21plus, Priority Research Centers Program through the National Research Foundation, and College based business of Veterinary Medical Center. In addition, our graduates have passed at highest rank in veterinarian national examination for 10 consecutive years, among them, all of graduates have passed for 9 years with 2 times of senior pass. As valuable resource, our college graduates play a critical role in domestic and world-wide veterinary field, as well as clinics, administrative authorities, universities, research institutes, and industrial companies.
We are delighted to meet promising pre-veterinarians, for the prevention and treatment of animal diseases, and as a leader in the biomedical sciences to lead the future of veterinary medicine at the College of Veterinary Medicine, Chungbuk National University.
