WVA member list

WVA Secretariat requested recently from all WVA members to update their contact details and their organization structure (change of President, responsible of secretariat etc.).

The most updated WVA member list is now available on the WVA website: HERE.

Please check the WVA member list and inform the WVA secretariat at secretariat@worldvet.org in case that the contact details of your organization is not correct. 

UGANDA - Joint veterinary and medical association workshop

Inspired by the WVA and the World Medical Association Memorandum of Understanding on the concept of One Health, the Uganda Veterinary and Medical associations decided to organize a joint "One Health" Workshop in February 2013 to launch a joint cooperation between Physicians and Veterinarians in Uganda.

The WVA fully supports this initiative and encourage the WVA members to take similar initiatives in their country. 

World Veterinary Day Award 2013

World Veterinary Day was instigated by the WVA in 2000 to be celebrated annually on the last Saturday of April. In 2008 the WVA and the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) agreed on the creation of the World Veterinary Day Award aimed at rewarding the most successful celebration of the veterinary profession by national veterinary associations, alone, or in cooperation with any other selected veterinary body.

The theme for the World Veterinary Day Award 2013 is Vaccination.

The winner of the 2013 Award will be announced at the opening ceremony of OIE 81st General Session to be held in Paris, France on 26 May 2013 and be invited to the World Veterinary Congress 17 - 20 September in Prague, Czech Republic where he will receive the price of 1000 US$.

Egypt - first conference of the Scientific Association for Animal Health Research Institute 

On 17 - 19 December 2012, the first conference of the Scientific Association for Animal Health Research Institute was held in Egypt with the participation of the Egyptian Minister of Agriculture. On that occasion, the WVA Councillor, Prof. Farouk El-Dessouky received an award from the Egyptian Minister of Agriculture.
