WVA President’s visit in Angola for the preparation of the 5th African Veterinary Association Congress

Following an invitation from the Ministry of agriculture of Angola, WVA President, Dr Faouzi Kechrid visited Angola from 12 to 19 August 2013.

The purpose of the visit was to inspect the venue of the next 5th African Veterinary Association (AVA) Congress to be held in Lubango from 29 to 31 October 2013.

Dr Kechrid met with the ministry of agriculture and fisheries, Mr Alfonso Pedro Canga who welcomed the WVA President and supported the organisation of the AVA Congress as well the 3rd   Angola Veterinary Congress.

Dr Kechrid was also welcomed by the Governor of the Province of Huila (Lubango), Dr Joao Marcelino Tyipinge, and by the Mayor of Luanda, Jose Tavares Ferreira who promised to have a successful event and that Angola will be the Capital of the African veterinary medicine in 2013.

Dr Oumar Macki Tounkara, AVA General Secretary and Dr Maria Antonieta Baptista, Presidente of the Ordem dos Medicos Veterinarios De Angola, accompanied Dr F. Kechrid to the meeting with the WHO and FAO representatives in Angola. Dr. Kechrid thanked them for their involvement in the AVA congress.

The WVA President met with colleagues from Angola, Mozambique, Botswana and Swaziland in order to finalize the scientific programme of the veterinary event.
