The 1966 Veterinary Surgeons Act defines the veterinary profession as it stands at present and when the Act is revised the nature of the profession will change. Quite when it will be revised remains uncertain, although DEFRA has indicated that this is unlikely to happen this side of the General Election. What is certain, however, is that it will be revised – and the veterinary profession must do everything it can in the meantime to ensure that any changes are for the better.
