Vets Care Organization Pakistan organized a “Free Animal Treatment & Vaccination Camp” at UVAS Out Reach Station, Sittar WalaDistrict Shiekhu Pura on Sunday 25th of May 2008. This camp was organized in connection to the World Veterinary Day previously celebrated on April 26. The objective of the camp was to highlight the “Importance of vaccination program against Hemorrhagic Septicemia (HS)” in farm animals.
48 Veterinary students (Members of Vets Care Club) from the University of Veterinary & Animal Sciences, Lahore under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Hafiz Abdul Samad (Project Director, Ambulatory Services) and Dr. Zia-ur-Rehman (Advisor, Vets Care Club; Lecturer CMS) participated in the camp. According to official records 384 animals were vaccinated for HS and a large number of clinical cases were also examined, accordingly treated and provided with the medicines free of cost. Each case was explained to the students. The camp on one hand saved the animals, on the other hand it provided chance for veterinary students to acquire more practical skills. This camp helped in building good name of veterinary profession in general public of the area.
