[1]Animal welfare is an area of active scientific research and development; it is also an emotive issue that has ethical, production, economic, social and trade consequences for FAO members. The Animal Production and Health Division is organizing an Expert Meeting in Rome (29 September – 3 October 2008) to review animal welfare standards, practices and policies and to advise on supporting relevant capacity building in developing countries.
