WVA Celebrates World Animal Day 2020

Each year on October 4th, the global veterinary community unites in observance of World Animal Day.

October 4, 2020; Brussels, Belgium: The World Veterinary Association celebrates World Animal Day on October 4th, recognizing the importance of providing good care and welfare for all animals. Animals have a critical impact on human life – from tiny insect pollinators to farmed fish raised for food to working donkeys and mules that are essential to their family’s livelihood, and more. It is essential that we safeguard biodiversity and protect animals and their habitats to ensure a sustainable world for future generations.

Veterinarians have a significant role to play in caring for, managing, and enhancing animal care as well as educating others to respect animal life. These roles are reflected in the various papers and position statements on animal health and welfare published by the WVA.

On this day, WVA calls on all veterinarians around the world to unite in the celebration of World Animal Day 2020.
