The WVA Celebrates World Animal Day 2021

The WVA calls on veterinarians around the world to unite in the celebration of World Animal Day 2021, emphasizing the importance of caring for the health and welfare of all animals.

Human life is deeply connected to that of animals – from animal companions to working animals used for rescue or transportation to those providing us with food. As we've seen during the ongoing pandemic, animal health is directly linked to ours. Additionally, the livelihood of families around the world depends on animals. By caring for them, animals give back to people. We must protect biodiversity and animal habitats to secure a sustainable world for the future.

Veterinarians also play a significant role in the management and enhancement of animal care by educating others to respect animal life. This is reflected in the various papers and position statements on animal health and welfare published by the WVA.
