5th One Health International Forum in Fukuoka

The Fukuoka One Health International Forum was a great success, with approximately 250 participants in attendance, in Fukuoka, Japan in 22nd of February 2025.

The Forum welcomed 3 Keynote speakers: WVA President Dr John de Jong with the address ‘One Health – Veterinary Medicine Leads the Way – Time to Change from Practical Approach to Accepted Practice’,  WVA Councillor for Asia and Oceania Dr Mark Schipp with the talk ‘One Health: Translating concept into practice Addressing global challenges for a sustainable future’ and Dr Maria Minerva P. Calimag, President of the Confederation of Medical Associations in Asia and Oceania (CMAAO) who spoke about ‘Antimicrobial Resistance: A Shared Challenge for Physicians and Veterinarians in the Food Cycle’.

Distinguished guests, including the Fukuoka Governor, members of the Japan National Diet, and other prominent figures, attended the Forum.

Several high school students from the Fukuoka Prefecture were present and the opportunity to learn and converse with world-renowned researchers about One Health was an invaluable experience


This Forum has been held since 2020, with the aim to solve issues regarding zoonotic infections such as COVID-19 through the One Health approach by world-class researchers in various fields, and to send out their research results from Fukuoka, the site of the Fukuoka Declaration, to the world.
