Call for Experts on Rabbits and Poultry for the Essential Veterinary Medicines List (EVML)

The Essential Veterinary Medicines List (EVML) is an extensive compilation of necessary veterinary medicines and vaccines, developed through the combined efforts of the World Veterinary Association (WVA), The Brooke, and numerous species specialists dedicated to advancing animal health.

Current Opportunity: Phase 2 Expansion
The EVML is now in Phase 2, extending its coverage to include poultry and rabbits. We are seeking specialists in these species to assist in the review process. If you are an expert in poultry or rabbits, or know someone who is, please contact the WVA at secretariat@worldvet.org and send over CV and a short motivation statement.

Role and Commitment

  • What You’ll Do: Review and provide feedback on draft lists of essential medicines for poultry and rabbits.
  • Time Commitment: Just a few hours, fulfilled electronically.
  • Acknowledgment: All expert reviewers will be recognized in relevant EVML materials.

About the EVML

The EVML currently encompasses close to 300 medicines across 11 categories, including Antimicrobials, Vaccines, Hormone Therapies, Metabolic Agents, among others.

These medicines cater to pigs, large and small ruminants, and equines. Phase 3 will further expand the list to include aquaculture and bees. Although the lists are species-specific, a core multi-species list is designed to support veterinarians caring for various animals, leveraging collective expertise to enhance medicine availability.

Join the Global Effort
The EVML is an open, collaborative, and free resource. We encourage involvement from the broader veterinary and scientific communities. Your feedback is essential to enhance the list’s influence and usefulness. Together, we can improve access to essential veterinary medicines and promote global animal health.
