The WVA is delighted to announce the candidates for the WVA Elections 2024 for the positions of President-Elect and Councillors. The WVA Elections for the positions of President Elect, Africa, Europe and International Regional Organizations will be conducted via electronic ballot starting on the 14th of February.

Vets for Climate Action, a voice for all animals In August 2019, an Australian veterinarian called Jean Kessel posted a question to a Facebook group: “Will you join me in starting Vets for Climate Action? If not you, then who? If not now, then when? We have ten years to take impactful climate action.” Today, Vets for Climate Action (VfCA) is a charity registered in Australia with the vision of a world where animals and people thrive in a healthy climate and the purpose to lead those who love, care for and work with animals to act urgently on climate change.

The World Veterinary Association Congress 2024 (WVAC2024) is hosted by the South African Veterinary Association (SVA) in partnership with the World Veterinary Association (WVA). We are looking forward to welcome you to our 39th Congress which will take place in Cape Town, South Africa from 16 to 19 April 2024, underpinned by the theme 'Resilience in the face of adversity'.

The Federation of Asian Veterinary Associations (FAVA) Congress 2023 was successfully held at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK), Sarawak, Malaysia, with the theme "Asia United for Animal Health and Welfare." The event took place from November 3-5, 2023, and attracted a total of 823 delegates from 15 countries, including Japan, Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia, Korea, Singapore, Netherlands, United States, Brunei, Taiwan, Vietnam, Yemen, Myanmar, India, and Malaysia.

The WVA is glad to inform that it is now a member of the AMR Multi-Stakeholder Partnership Platform! This Platform was established by the Quadripartite (FAO, UNEP, WHO and WOAH), with representation from governments, the private sector and civil society, aiming to develop and implement a shared global vision, narrative and targets, generating, a global movement for action against AMR.

This year's WAAW theme promotes cross-sector collaboration to preserve the effectiveness of these critical medicines. Combatting AMR demands a united One Health approach, with all sectors coming together to promote prudent antimicrobial use and preventive measures.
