Challenges for the global control of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza

According to WOAH, Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) has resulted in the death and mass slaughter of more than 500 million poultry worldwide between 2005 and 2022. The spread and recurrence of this disease is a global threat to the poultry sector and farmers' livelihoods, and can have severe consequences for food security, biodiversity and a potential human pandemic.

Fear of mass rabies outbreak in Europe due to war in Ukraine

The national veterinary profession organizations from Central and Eastern Europe, took part in the spring meeting of the Visegrad Vet Plus Group, held in Kołobrzeg, Poland, on May 13, 2023, and approved a position statement calling for action to help Ukraine in managing the problem of rabies.

WVA and WOAH sign new MoU

WVA and the World Organisation for Animal Health renewed their long standing partnership with the signature of a new Memorandum of Understanding. The signature took place in Paris, France, on the 23rd of May during the WOAH Annual General Session.

Meet the WVA/MSD 2022 Scholarship winners

After careful evaluation of more than 500 applications received, 80 veterinary students were selected from 47 different countries to receive a scholarship of 2,500 US Dollars in recognition of their academic achievements and to aid in the development of their academic and future veterinary careers.
