THE WVA CELEBRATES THE WORLD ZOONOSES DAY

Today, the 6th of July is World Zoonoses day. The WVA celebrates the important achievements of mankind toward zoonotic diseases and also the awareness of the population of its importance.

The WVA considers that One Health concepts and the development of One Health operational tools should be supported by veterinary professionals and institutions.

The WVA published last year a position statement about Zoonoses Emergence in Relation to Wildlife Disruption and Trade and established that veterinarians, as public health advocates and custodians of animal health and welfare, should advocate for the establishment of feasible controls on wildlife marketing through enhanced public awareness, and the promotion of sustainable biodiversity management and enforcement of agreements, laws, and regulations.
