World Veterinary Association Publishes Annual Report Highlighting Global Impact and Strategic Growth

The World Veterinary Association (WVA) has published its Annual Report of Activities, outlining the Association’s key achievements and milestones since the last General Assembly, held in Cape Town on 22 April 2024.

This year’s report showcases WVA’s ongoing commitment to advancing global veterinary priorities, strengthening international partnerships, and driving strategic growth across all areas of its work. Central to these efforts has been the collective dedication of the WVA Council, Committees, Working Groups, the Secretariat, and the wider WVA membership.

Over the past year, WVA has placed particular emphasis on deepening its collaboration with key international organisations, including the World Health Organization (WHO), Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH), and the UN Environment Programme (UNEP)—collectively known as the Quadripartite. The Association has also strengthened ties with other global veterinary and health partners, such as the World Small Animal Veterinary Association (WSAVA) and the World Medical Association (WMA), reinforcing the veterinary profession’s vital role within the broader One Health framework.

WVA Working Groups have played a key role in shaping the upcoming World Veterinary Association Congress 2025 (WVAC 2025), curating a robust scientific agenda which, for the first time, will feature a Seminar on Medicines Stewardship—addressing one of the most pressing challenges in global veterinary practice. In addition, the Working Groups have spearheaded the development of several new Position Statements, reinforcing WVA’s global leadership in establishing veterinary standards and guiding policy. These resources also serve as valuable tools for members in developing national and regional policies.

Internally, WVA Committees have continued their work to enhance the Association’s operations and financial sustainability. A key development this year has been the adoption of updated Terms of Reference for all Committees and Working Groups, aimed at clarifying roles and responsibilities, promoting transparency, and encouraging greater collaboration across WVA’s governance structures.

The publication of this report reflects WVA’s strong commitment to excellence, responsiveness, and strategic development—laying the foundation for a successful WVAC 2025 and continued impact on the global stage.
