The World Veterinary Association (WVA) has launched its forward-looking 2025–2030 Strategic Plan, reaffirming its mission to strengthen the global veterinary profession and deliver tangible value to its members.
As a federation of national, regional, and specialty veterinary associations, the WVA recognizes the increasing need for international alignment in veterinary medicine, particularly in areas such as disease control, food safety, animal welfare, medicines availability, and the ecological impact of health systems. These global challenges require coordinated global solutions.
At the heart of WVA’s work lies the One Health approach, promoting the interconnected health of humans, animals, and the environment. Through partnerships with international organizations and authorities, the WVA leads global advocacy, support, and education initiatives to shape the future of veterinary medicine.
🔹 Key Strategic Areas (2025–2030):
- Animal Welfare
- Medicines Stewardship
- One Health
- Veterinary Profession & Education
The WVA’s governance ensures transparency and regional representation through its General Assembly, Council, and Executive Committee, enabling global engagement and agile decision-making.
What sets this strategy apart is its dynamic framework: each five-year strategic goal is supported by 1–2-year action plans, reviewed annually by the WVA Council to maintain progress, adaptability, and impact.
As the WVA moves forward, it aims to lead global veterinary advocacy, build stronger professional networks, and create lasting impact through evidence-based policies, inclusive representation, and cross-sector collaboration.
Veterinary medicine is global. The WVA ensures it has a global voice.
