WVA Announces Candidates for the 2026 Elections


The World Veterinary Association (WVA) is pleased to announce the slate of candidates for the 2026 Elections, including the positions of President-Elect and Councillors. The upcoming elections mark another important milestone in the Association’s continued commitment to strong governance, global representation, and leadership within the veterinary profession. The resulting Council will serve the term 2026-2028 to start in April 2026.

Appointed Councillors

According to WVA election rules, when the number of candidates is equal to the number of available seats, those candidates are automatically appointed. We are therefore delighted to confirm the newly appointed Councillors representing:

  • Africa
  • Europe
  • Middle East and North Africa
  • North America
  • International Associations
  • Regional Discipline-Centred Organisations

We extend our warmest congratulations to all appointed Councillors and look forward to their contributions in the coming term.

Positions Proceeding to Election

Elections will proceed for the positions of:

  • President-Elect
  • Asia & Oceania Councillor
  • Latin America Councillor

Voting will take place via electronic ballot beginning on 1 February 2026.

Eligible WVA members in good standing will receive detailed voting instructions by email prior to the start of the ballot period.
