WVA/MSD Animal Health 2022 Veterinary Student Scholarship Program is now open!

WVA and MSD Animal Health 2022 Scholarship has been launched for veterinary students from four world regions (Latin America, Africa, North Africa/Middle East, and Asia/Oceania) to enhance their academic experience.

The submission must be submitted by 1^st November 2022, 12:00 pm CEST. All the information, eligibility requirements, and link to the application can be found in the link below.

The announcement of the selected students will be published by 26-29^th April 2023 during the World Veterinary Association Congress in Taipei, Taiwan.

BVA Live: back with a bang!

BVA were excited to be back at the NEC Birmingham in May for the second BVA Live. Over the course of two days, more than 1400 delegates from across the veterinary professions gathered to hear from inspirational speakers, take part in thought-provoking debates and practical hands-on CPD, and explore a world-class exhibition.

Essential collaboration agreement to promote a joint One Health response in Korea

On April 4, 2023, Dr Youngmee Jee, Director of the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA) and Dr Ju Hyung Hur, President of the Korea Veterinary Medical Association (KVMA), signed a collaboration agreement to prevent and manage not only zoonotic infectious diseases, but also infectious diseases transmitted by vectors (mosquitoes, ticks, etc.), foodborne infectious diseases, climate changes and antibiotic resistance in all aspects related to One Health.

Challenges for the global control of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza

According to WOAH, Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) has resulted in the death and mass slaughter of more than 500 million poultry worldwide between 2005 and 2022. The spread and recurrence of this disease is a global threat to the poultry sector and farmers' livelihoods, and can have severe consequences for food security, biodiversity and a potential human pandemic.

Fear of mass rabies outbreak in Europe due to war in Ukraine

The national veterinary profession organizations from Central and Eastern Europe, took part in the spring meeting of the Visegrad Vet Plus Group, held in Kołobrzeg, Poland, on May 13, 2023, and approved a position statement calling for action to help Ukraine in managing the problem of rabies.

WVA and WOAH sign new MoU

WVA and the World Organisation for Animal Health renewed their long standing partnership with the signature of a new Memorandum of Understanding. The signature took place in Paris, France, on the 23rd of May during the WOAH Annual General Session.
